To reserve a spot in this certification, full payment of fees is required. We accept payments via Compra Click, credit card, cash, check, and bank transfers.

If you are doing this class IN PERSON, the exam fee must be paid either before or on the day of the exam. For this, we only accept cash, checks from national banks, and bank transfers.

This certification consists of a full-day session from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

For In Person Trainings: materials, and lunch are included.

Information about this level of SCA Certification

  • Course duration: Minimum of 7 hours
  • Prerequisites: None; “Introduction to Coffee” is recommended
  • Written exam information:
    • Total number of questions in the online written exam: 20 (each worth one point)
    • Total time allocated for the online written exam: 32 minutes
    • Minimum passing score (online written exam): 60%

Practical objectives and activities:

  • This Foundation course does not include a practical exam. However, there are practical learning objectives.

The SCA Roasting Foundation Certification provides students with an overview of the roasting process, including the physical changes that occur during roasting and how to manage the sensory aspects of coffee by applying light or dark roasts. Students will also gain an understanding of the basic structure of a roaster, as well as general maintenance and fire prevention practices.
